Q1) In the last line, what did the writer mean by suggesting that “he may have found more porcupines than rats?”
-He means that in our nation, there are courageous soldiers who do not fear their enemies and are willing to fight back to defend our nation, but, there are as well weakling soldiers who cowered in fear upon the footsteps of the enemies. Evidence from this year's Total Defence Day shows that our nation have more brave soldiers than coward soldiers.
Q2) What’s worth giving up your life for?
-I would only give up my life for my beloved family, best friends and my country. Families are those who are always near to us and aiding us when in need. We share our burdens and enjoyment with them. In return, I would do my best to help them or even scarifice my life for them if they are in trouble. Best friends are just like my siblings. They would always lend a helping hand if I am in trouble or moody. Just like my family, we would share our joy and burdens together as one. Our country is also important. Without her, we would not be what we are today. Thus, we must protect our country together. This is the reason for men entering National Service at the age of 18. We are trained in there by undergoing military-related activities. Even if i were to be under 18 or below, I am willing to be of service and fight for our country!
