Elderly Falling Prey to 'Volunteer' Ruse (trick)
1a)What is the modus operandi (method of operating) of the con artists?
- They pose as volunteers from welfare organisations on a project to spruce up the homes of the senior citizens and once they gain access to their homes, they would help themselves mostly to their unsuspecting victims' cash.
b)What are the Lion Befrienders planning to do to ensure the old folks do not get conned again?
-They are sending out volunteers to lonely senior citizens,has also alerted those under its charge about those con artist.
2)Do you like doing social work? Why or why not?
-Yes.If I could get to do social work, I would definitely want a try in it. I've seen many voluntarily work on television and that is why I felt like giving a try to do social working. As the saying goes ''its better to give than to take'' is one common proverb that we are hearing even in the streets. I feel that this proverb motivates me to help those who are less fortunate than me. Even though doing social work can be a tiring experience but nevertheless, the smiles in the end brings much joy than seeing the trouble of the less fortunate and the elderly.
